Food Photography

One of the perks of photographing food is that you often get to eat the “subjects” after the shoot is over. When I did a food photography shoot with Julie Vance of Sweet Things by Julie about a month ago to create updated assets for her website redesign, she made a variety of delectable pies, scones and brownies and we spent about two hours creating a varied collection of images, and I can attest to just how great they are!

We began the project by developing a comprehensive plan including an inspiration board of reference shots from Pinterest, creating a shot list of the specific images (with size and aspect ratio requirements), a mood board for the colors and textures we wanted to use, and a plan for styling and props.

We created a mix of process shots (showing how the baked goods are made) and styled “still life” shots (like the ones below) that would be suitable for use in the homepage marquees and section headers on her website.

If your restaurant or business is in need of beautiful brand imagery featuring your culinary creations, I’d love to collaborate with you, so give me a call.
