DJI RC Pro Controller Improvements

I recently purchased the DJI Mavic 3 Cine with the RC Pro Controller, and while I’m happy with the improved flight characteristics and battery life, I’m missing some of the basic things that were available with the Mavic 2 Smart Controller.

I’ve been using the Mavic 2 Pro with the Smart Controller for a couple years, and I’ve grown to rely on the dial/wheel on the right side of the controller to adjust the camera exposure settings while in flight.

Per the DJI User Manual for the old Smart Controller , you “turn the dial to adjust exposure compensation (when in Program mode), aperture (when in Aperture Priority and Manual mode), or shutter speed (when in Shutter Priority mode).”

With the Mavic 3, there are now two cameras (the 4/3” and Zoom) and the dial has been arbitrarily assigned to adjust the zoom level when in Explore mode, but does nothing when the main camera is selected, and it is not user-configurable.

I really want DJI to update its functionality in the next firmware release to make it work as follows:

  1. use the dial to adjust the zoom factor when using Explore mode.

  2. use the dial to adjust exposure compensation, aperture and shutter (the same way the Smart Controller works) when the 4/3” camera is selected.

… and while we’re at it, here are a few other wish list items:

  1. Make the location of the histogram on the screen persistent so I don’t have to reposition it every. single. time.

  2. Make the customizable key settings actually take. I’ve tried to assign C2 to camera settings, but it always reverts back to Auxiliary LED light settings.
